To whom it interests:
I have had the pleasure of working with Julia Giordano in an editorial capacity since March 2019. I was managing a suite of commodities market newsletters (and attendant databases) for an asset I had founded in 2007 and sold to a larger publishing concern in 2018. Julia had been a client and I knew her through her readership of our reports.
In early 2019, Julia approached me about wanting to make a career change and was seeking ideas, as my role inherently put me in contact with many aspects of the manufacturing supply chains. Rather than offer her suggestions, I offered to hire her myself as her reputation while employed in commercial sectors of the petrochemical industry was that she was bright, quick, thorough and friendly. Her emails were well-written and she was well spoken. Luckily for me, she accepted the offer.
I managed Julia from March 2019 until the end of 2020 before my role changed to a broader scope and I no longer managed editors. It was a pleasure. She quickly became my ship’s first mate. She also possessed a nice sense of knowing what areas were not yet in her wheelhouse and seeking to improve in those aspects. For example, her finance, commercial and analytical background was strong, but I came up through traditional newspaper journalism. And so I mentored her in certain aspects of journalism. She augmented this with courses she took outside of the company, showing great self-driven ambition.
Julia brings her “A-game” to professional endeavors and pushes herself to constantly up her game. After I moved on from people management, Julia remained a key internal contact for me at OPIS and helped many of my own global commercial projects. She brings a wonderful balance of enthusiasm (fun) and professionalism (seriousness) to the job. I wish there were 10 of her at OPIS. Her sense of dedication is uncommon and I consider it to be a major asset for any organization. I am happy to discuss my experiences working with Julia anytime.
Thank you,
Kathy Hall

I often lament that ideas are great, but execution is what really matters. Getting things done is the only way to affect real change, and Julia is the shining example of how important it is to both have great ideas and execute your ideas to their fullest potential. She is the founder of Kung Fu Running Club and, as both one of her officers and as president of a sister club, I witnessed Julia build a brand new running community in a transitional neighborhood of Houston.
From zero, she grew the running club into a friendly and welcoming place for the running community to socialize, attracting nearly one hundred runners every week. As president of Kung Fu Running Club, she was responsible for not only the weekly operations of the run nights themselves (making sure everyone was checked in, knew the route, and got home safe), but also for maintaining important relationships with the host venue, T-shirt sponsor, runner milestone sponsors, and various advertising sponsors throughout the year.
In addition to the weekly runs, Julia also created three 5K races to raise money for local non-profits. She oversaw the entire effort: highlighting the non-profit partner; designing the theme, decorations, and merchandise; finding venues for multiple race stops; securing drink, donation, and title sponsors; executing the marketing plan; and managing logistics on race day. The focus was always on the participant experience and these events grew to average over 200 runners raising thousands of dollars for the community.
More recently, Julia and I were season ticket holders for the Houston Dash and was deeply inspired by looking at her childhood sport with the experience of growing organizations. She saw tremendous opportunities at every game for growth in the fourth largest city in the United States and continuously wished for better for the players and for their fans, repeatedly sending feedback to the organization.
Even after moving to a city without a professional women's soccer team, she stayed engaged with the NWSL and women's soccer as a whole, using her skills as a writer to grow the fanbase in her community and online. I have met few people who are as passionate about soccer and growing the NWSL as Julia.

I worked closely with Julia from 2010 to 2013, when she worked as a Financial Advisor at our firm. In her time here, she demonstrated an incredible ability to connect with people quickly and gain their trust. She truly cares for others and seeks to help them in any way possible, which translated well to prospecting and sales. Julia would be an excellent addition to any organization and has the ability to handle tasks without dropping the ball, even when not supervised or checked in on. We were sad to see her change industries when she left to pursue other passions, but I know she will do amazing things throughout her career, helping grow whatever companies are lucky enough to have her.
